Applications

Many applications within the industry require a thermal fluid to transport heat or cold. The applications range from multipurpose heating and cooling of vessels within the pharmaceutical sector to indirect cooling systems & HVAC within cleanrooms for the biotechnology and medical device sectors. The transport medium is usually called secondary refrigerant or secondary coolant. The ideal secondary refrigerant must ensure a good thermal conductivity, have high specific heat and low viscosity. It is also important that the secondary refrigerant is non-flammable. Many of the systems mentioned will require forms of treatment whether it is an inhibited glycol medium to transfer heat or cold depending of specific end user requirements or a corrosion inhibitor for closed loop pipe work.
